Best tofu I ever had I LOVED IT very satisfied

Ah come-on. This is not a Vietnamese restaurant during the week. It’s just a Chinese restaurant. The people are lovely but unless you are financially challenged, you won’t open the door. If it’s a small light meal at near zero cost you seek, this place is as good as any other. It all comes down to how much money you have in your wallet. Can’t go back. The place is dirty and unattractive; the Chinese food approaches good, but I can afford more and better. 1 star. Not that poor.

This is a Durham treasure. It’s simple and the food is handcrafted and excellent. The Number One on the Wednesday and Saturday Vietnamese Menu is a must have, also Number Six on Wednesday’s menu is fantastic. All of the 1 and 2 star ratings are almost exclusively from the young and clueless of life hipsters and Gen Z’ers attempting to infest the area. Pay them no attention.

We had hot and sour soup, ginger chicken and sesame tofu and they tasted like 5 star dishes. They were actually out of the soup but the owner made us a fresh pot. The chicken was super tender, and the plentiful amount of fresh ginger and broccoli was exactly what we needed. It was a delicious and nutritious meal! (Thank you to the owner who made fresh soup for us).

I absolutely love the veggie plate they do on Wed and Sat. The sticky rice with the black bean sauce is so yummy, and the tofu is perfectly fried, and the broccoli is nice and crisp. Their regular menu is good, too, esp. considering how inexpensive it is.I also love that this place has been on 9th street for over 20 years!

I have been going here on a regular basis for 20+ years. I love this place. The service is always excellent and the food delicious. Note: They are clear about their more traditional Vietnamese food--it is sold on Wednesdays and Saturdays only. You can get a banh mi there on Saturdays. Get there early because they sell out fast.Also, since lines are longer on Wednesday and Saturday, see if you can call in an order. You'll save a lot of time that way.

Banh's Cuisine is quick, cheap, conveniently located, and most of all delicious. There are wonderful vegetarian/vegan options- my favorite is the mixed vegetableas with fried rice. The atmosphere is calm and pretty. The owners are always smiling and helpful. If you want inexpensive, filling, whole foods, Banh's is a great place.

Not great but not horrible. The traditional Vietnamese dishes lack certain essential ingredients. The spring roll had one piece of basil and the "pho" had no herbs with it. The vegetable platter only came with fried tofu. The menu didn't have any descriptions so this came as a surprise. I typically think vegetables would come in a vegetable platter.

Amazing ginger chicken. Great place for a quick bite where the plates are loaded with flavor. Their ginger chicken is also topped with fresh shredded ginger on top of the plate.

Good food, quick service. I wish they had a website, I could place order online and just pick it up.

Amazing Chinese/Vietnamese food. Have Vietnamese specials on Wednesdays and Fridays. I recommend the vegetable platter. This is the only place where I've seen a veggie dish being more popular than meat options, despite the meat options being delicious too!

So yummy and the owner is so nice and friendly! I always enjoy the food and feel happy going here. Big portions and low prices. I would love to see more vegan options on the menu.

A venerable establishment that's been around since the eighties. The owner Chi knoes her customers and remembers their favorite dishes. I love the black bean tofu. A local joint with delicious Vietnamese specials. I recommend this place

Been going here since I was a child. This place can do no wrong and I'll admit my immediate bias. Mixed veggies with fried rice is the staple. They have added tofu which is awesome.

Best Vietnamese in Durham! Located in the bustling 9th St area, Banh's is an understated restaurant space with top-notch food, low prices and excellent customer service. Remember to bring cash--no credit cards accepted. I get to go from here a few times per month and occasionally eat at one of the outside tables if it's nice out. A great choice for a variety of people-- from foodies seeking authentic Vietnamese to college students look for a low-priced meal in a convenient location. Highly recommend!

I only leave reviews for places that are horrible or excellent. This place happens to be on the excellent end of the spectrum. I love food and I love eating at restaurants. Of all the places in the triangle to eat, the chicken and tofu with broccoli at this place has to be one of my favorite meals. I love it! Thanks for the great food!

Best deal on good food. I've been eating here for approximately 30 years. Classic, humble, cash only, food for the people. Saturdays and Tuesday? the women owners serve original Vietnamese food. Dont forget Cash only, affordable and unpretentious. Dont look for a sexy environment. It's very basic counter service and service station seating

Phenomenal vegetarian platter (Wed and Sat). Some of the best, most responsibly priced food in area. And excellent service. Quite rare.

Small shop but that just means the place is packed with authenticity and care. Order off of the specials menu, it's worth it.

The Vegetarian Plate (vegan, I believe) is only available on Wednesday and Saturday, but it's amazing and seemingly a huge seller. It has a very smoky flavor to it which is really interesting. Would love to see expanded vegetarian/vegan availability and choices here!

Hole in the wall walk past with out looking kind of place. But trust me go in, the food is amazing at a good price. This isn’t one of those eat half your chicken because the rest is chewy kind of places, this is fresh made in their kitchen. BRING CASH

Cash only place that has been amazing time and time again. It's a small menu but the egg rolls and lemon grass pork were out of this world. At first glance you might make some assumptions but the older woman who runs the front is nice and you can tell the food is homemade. I can't recommend this place enough.

Excellent food and plenty of it. The person that took my order helpfully told me, without me asking, that an item did not have a vegetarian sauce base. That was great.

Amazing food, I got the chicken curry with steamed rice and was impressed at the price and quality.The lady who helped me out was very sweet and made sure everything was perfect also she was very patient with me, so thank you for that!The curry flavor was rich and a little spicy, they give you a big portion which will fill you up for sure, everyone should give this place a shot!

The best Asian food in nine st. Durham!

Some of the best food I have ever had, highly reccomend going to lunch/dinner on Wednesdays/Saturdays for the special noodle dish. One of the best places for NCSSM students or anyone else who wants to enjoy genuine vietnamese cuisine.

I have been coming to Bahn's for over 20 years, and never get tired of their dishes. They are a very friendly, family run business. A+

Louis Salvador, I'm sorry your private jet got caught on the runway and you felt so jealous when you saw me walking the stairs to my luxury Boeing with my Banh's take out that you had to leave a disparaging, crass review insulting both Banh's and their customers. Fortunately, they no longer accept the American Express Blowhard Card, so you'll never be able to eat there anyway. .. In all seriousness, wonderful food made by wonderful people. I look forward to my Banh Mi every Saturday. Banh's is a Durham institution for good reason.

Amazing sweet and sour! Like donuts filled with chicken. Make sure to get the sticky rice if available (Wednesdays and Saturdays)

Had three of the Saturday specials. The "salad roll" looked like a take on goi cuon, but was really disappointing. 80% vermicelli, 15% iceberg lettuce plus a touch of green onion and a tiny piece of meat. The pork bun was the smallest I've ever had and the taste/ratio wasn't redeeming. The sticky rice dish tasted the best but was barely more than just rice for $2.50. Maybe I just ordered poorly, but this was really really disappointing.
